Philadelphia based Dr. Dog have provided us with another quality record. Definitely gets better with each listen too. Now don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy these guys, but I still think the Architecture In Helsinki cover of "Heart It Races" may be one of the best tracks they’ve put out. Fate is out today via Park The Van.

Bowerbirds at Schubas (07.20.08)

After Pitchfork Fest, I headed on over to Schubas to catch my friends, Bowerbirds. I actually ran into Phil (vocals/guitar/percussion) at Pitchfork because Mark (violin/percussion/vocals) was helping out with the Bon Iver set. But yeah, please check these guys out if you have yet to do so. They are oh so good and they have just begun a new tour, so go out and see them. They played a few new songs, which they informed me were recently recorded, however they've decided to scrap them and re-record them in the near future. The setlist below may be slightly off, but this was the best I could remember and I unfortunately didn't catch all the names of the new ones. Anyway, the re-release of Hymns For A Dark Horse, with 2 bonus songs, is out now via Dead Oceans.

Pitchfork Fest 2008 Day 3

Welp, Day 3 of Pitchfork Fest was solid, probably even a little better than Day 2, minus the heat. I caught full sets from Dirty Projectors, HEALTH, The Dodos, and Bon Iver, which I must say were pretty fantastic. I also caught the majority of High Places, The Apples In Stereo, M. Ward, Ghostface Killah & Raekwon, and Spoon, along with Les Savy Fav and Times New Viking via the jumbo-tron. All of course were sweet. I am, however, a little bummed I missed King Khan and that Cut Copy were late, but what are you going to do. Here are a few pictures from the festivities, along with my final thoughts.

High Places

HEALTH

The Apples In Stereo

The Dodos

M. Ward

Ghostface Killah & Raekwon

Bon Iver

Final Thoughts

New Discovery: High Places
Most Anticipated: Fleet Foxes
Most Impressive: Dirty Projectors
Most Fun: The Hold Steady / Spoon
Killed It: The Dodos
